Edmund Voyna, 86, of Knoxville, Arkansas, and formerly of Charles City, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the Johnson Medical Center, at Clarksville, Arkansas.

Edmund John Voyna was born November 17, 1919, in Howard County, Iowa, the son of Frank and Victoria (Lundak) Voyna. He received his education from rural Howard County schools and later received his GED.

On October 23, 1945, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Kessler. Edmund worked at the Oliver, Adrian Implement, the Department of Transportation and H & M Transport. After retirement Edmund worked for Precision Chasse Co., and Janssen Engineering.

In the early 1980’s they moved to Arkansas. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge. Edmund enjoyed fishing and the company of others. His family was very important to him and he looked forward to spending time with them, especially the grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Sylvia Voyna of Knoxville, Arkansas; five children, Steven (Cheryl) Voyna of Des Moines, Iowa, Carol (Jerry) Johnson of Bassett, Leland (Gail) Voyna of Charles City, Kevin Voyna of Anamosa and Vicki Janssen of Russellville, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Ripley of Salem, Conn. and Edith Mayer of Lime Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Voyna; and two sisters, Mary Fye and Agnes Frana.
