CHARLES CITY — Helen Latch, 83, of Charles City, died Tuesday (March 14, 2006) at Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Helen Latch will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev.Carl Ries officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City, with a 7 p.m. vigil Scriptural wake service.

Visitation will continue Saturday at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa Charles City site.

Helen Ruth Boller Latch was born June 26, 1922, at Goodell, the daughter of Harvey and Edith (Forristall) Boller. She graduated from the Goodell High School.

On July 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Elroy Latch. In 1941 they moved south of Charles City where they were engaged in farming. Elroy died on March 27, 1967.
Helen was then employed for 18 years at Spurgens Department Store. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Pony of America Club where she served as the national secretary, and the Chat-A-Bit Club. One of Helen's greatest interests was bowling. She was on a bowling league in Greene and was also active at the Comet Bowl in Charles City. Helen also enjoyed attending the Comettes softball games and going to horse shows.

Her family was always very important to her and she took every opportunity to be with them and attend their various activities such as her grandson's wrestling matches.

Living family members include two children, Wayne (Judy) Latch of Charles City and Sandra (Rick) Martin of Earlharm; six grandchildren, Christine (John) Beranek, Tracey (Eric) Smith, Nicole (Jon) Ingraham, Natalie (Valdinir) Rak, Chad (Sara) Latch and Jason Latch; six great grandchildren, Lina, Leah, Lindsey, Logan, Luka and Taylor; two brothers, Larry (Evelyn) Boller of Godell, and Jerry (Tony) Boller of San Luis Obispo, Calif; and three sisters, Cleola (Marvin) Lackore of Garner, Harriet Rust of Mason City and Beth (Dale) Lackore of San Luix Obispo, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Howard and Darwin Boller; and a sister, Eulia Christie.
