Dale Theodore Krieger was born August 28, 1926, at Cresco, the second son of Charles and Pearl (Hyberger) Krieger. He and his family moved to Charles City in the late 1930’s when his father accepted a position with the Iowa Highway Commission. He graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy in 1944 where he served as senior class president.

From 1945 to 1946 Dale proudly served in the Unites States Army, being honorably discharged at the rank of Technical Sergeant First Class. Following his discharge he worked for a short time as a ticket agent with the Milwaukee Road. He then was employed by the Oliver/White Farm Cooperation where he was the foundry dispatcher, retiring in 1979.

On August 13, 1949, he was united in marriage to Beverly Clapp at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. To this union two sons were born. Dale and Beverly celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary in 1974 with a memorable one week trip to the Hawaiian Islands.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Heritage Club, worked with the Foster Grandparent Program and volunteered for several years at Comprehensive Systems. Dale was an avid card and cribbage player, winning several area Cribbage Tournaments in the late 1970’s until he had to stop because of his health.

He always looked forward to playing a round of cards with his card playing buddies nearly every morning. Dale also enjoyed going on Walleye fishing trips to northern Minnesota several times each summer, particularly at Lake Winnibigoshish and Mille Lacs Lake. He was also a solid billiards player and a true blooded Hawkeye fan. Dale will be remembered as a loving, patient and good hearted husband, father and friend.

Living family members include his wife, Beverly of Charles City; two sons, Theodore “Ted” Krieger of Charles City and Scott Krieger of New Hampton; two brothers, Kenneth (Imelda) Krieger of Mason City and Eugene (Lorraine) Krieger of Charles City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1949 and his father in 1991.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa Charles City site.
