Christopher L. Luck, 54, of South China, Maine, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at his home.

Memorial services for Christopher Luck will be held at a later date.

Christopher Louis Luck was born December 6, 1952, at Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Norma (Heinselman) Luck. He was educated at the Plainfield, New Hampton, Wapsi Valley and Greene schools.

Chris was a graduate of the United States Army Academy of Health Sciences affiliated with Baylor University at Waco, Texas. He also had a degree in Public Administration and a dual major in Education and Health Care Administration from Saint Joseph’s College in Windham, Maine. His medical training and experience included subspecialties of Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Rehabilitative Orthopedics, Dermatology and Gastroenterology. Chris served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1981.

He met his wife, Erin (Keenan) when they were both stationed in Germany. They were married at Sequin, Texas. on May 24, 1978. Chris worked as a Physician’s Assistant at the Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Maine from the time of his discharge from the Army in 1981 to 1984; from 1984 to 1989 he worked in the office of Dr. Lloyd Holmes in Iowa.

Chris and Erin then moved to South China, Maine in April of 1989 where Chris worked at the Thayer Hospital until his death. He also worked as a Clinic Supervisor for Workplace Health at Sappi Finepaper’s facility medical department at Somerset, Maine for the last few years.

Chris was a multi-talented man. He was an accomplished musician, playing guitar and stringed instruments, and a wonderful singer. He was also a self-taught luthier, making handcrafted guitars to specification in his home workshop. Chris was an excellent carpenter and handyman, making many improvements to his home, including a large deck and gazebo.

Living family members include his wife, Erin of South China, Maine; a sister, Connie (Michael) Seifert of Clinton, Iowa; a niece, Colleen (Vern) Blauwkamp of Holland, Michigan; a nephew, Daniel (Irene) Douglas of New Hampton, Iowa; five grandnieces; a grandnephew; and many nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William in infancy; a sister, Carol in infancy; and his grandparents.
