Charles City, IowaDoris Lubbert, 87, of Floyd, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Doris Olive Crooks Lubbert was born November 21, 1918, near Bruce, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harry and Mae (Havig) Crooks. She graduated in 1935 from the Nashua High School.
On September 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to August “Gus” Lubbert at Nashua. They farmed near Floyd all of their lives. Doris worked for John Cronin, attorney, at Nashua and at Walsh Manufacturing Company for 10 years. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church at Floyd. Her interests included sewing, quilting, gardening, crocheting and playing piano. Doris always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Living family members include four children, Inez (Duane) Dirks of Cedar Rapids, Maxine (Doug) Kehret of Waterloo, Roger Lubbert of Floyd and Charlene Mostek of Osage and special friend Doug Adams; seven grandchildren, Holly and Mitchell Warren, William and Jennifer Kehret, and Stephanie, Samantha and Joshua Mostek; four great grandchildren, Dylan, Sarah, Eli and Tommy; and a brother, Merle (Jane) Crooks of Nashua.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Donald Crooks; three brothers that died in infancy; and two sisters, Lucille Kolesar and Marian Litterer.
