Charles City, IowaJames L. Reams, 90, of Charles City, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
James Lavern Reams was born August 25, 1916, the son of Arthur and Josephine (Ritter) Reams at Marble Rock. He graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1934.
On February 20, 1939 he was united in marriage to Virginia K. Meek at Greene. James farmed in the Marble Rock and Charles City area for his entire life. He was a member of the Senior Citizens in Charles City, and the 60+ card club in Floyd. His interests included attending his children and grandchildren’s sports events, especially wrestling, football, and softball, watching the Iowa Hawkeye’s, the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, playing cards, shooting pool, farming, collecting John Deere memorabilia, and most of all socializing and reminiscing with people.
Living family members include sons, Marcus (Eleanor) Reams, of Topeka, Kans., Robert (Diane) Reams of Charles City, William (Barbara) Reams of Nashua, and Wally (Mary Lou) Reams, Steven Reams, Michael Reams, and Curt (Carol) Reams all of Charles City; daughters, Mary Jo (Duane) Tresch of Floyd, Cheryl (Ron) Sonberg, of Charles City; 36 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three sisters, Kathryn (Malcolm) Ott of Rockford, Thelma (Bill) Ernst of Mason City, and Beverly (Dick) Graham of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Virginia of 66 years; and two sons, Russell Reams, and Richard Reams.
