Alice Heinz, 78, a resident of 109 Hillside Drive, Charles City, died Friday, August 6, 2004, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass for Alice Heinz will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Carl Ries, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and the Vigil Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Alice Marie Heinz was born January 19, 1926, at Bristow, the daughter of Henry and Hattie (Gruis) Miller. She attended country school in both Butler and Floyd counties. On June 27, 1946, she was united in marriage with John Heinz at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Roseville. The couple farmed all of their lives on the Heinz family farm.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose Lodge and Heritage Club. Alice’s interests included doing yard work, gardening, fishing and going to rummage sales. Her family was always very special to her and she took a particular interest in the grandchildren and great grandchildren attending as many of their activities as possible.

Living family members include her husband, John of Charles City; three children, Sheryel (David) Wetherell of Orchard, Sandra (Duane) Jaeger and Scott (Janit) Heinz both of Charles City; seven grandchildren, Curt Wetherell, Raina Roll, Kerry Crooks, Troy and Michael Jaeger, Samantha Ritter and Jon Heinz; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel Miller of Greene, and Leslie Miller and special friend Eleanor, of Portland; and three sisters, Dena Hansen of Denver, CO, Lucille Hansen of Waterloo, and Kathleen (Fred) Schempf of Lakewood, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Steven, three brothers, and a sister.
