Jess H. Fifer, 102, of Charles City, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at the Port Charles Assisted Living, in Charles City.

Jess Harris Fifer was born December 4, 1904, the son of Robert and Mabel (Sebring) Fifer, at Chillicothe, Mo. He graduated from the Chillicothe High School.

On November 30, 1933 he was united in marriage to Hildred Thompson at Braymer, Mo. Having worked as a farmhand, mechanic and feed salesmen he retired from Jensen’s Locker as a bookkeeper at the age of 78. His interests included fishing; hunting; playing cards; bowling; and farming.

Living family members include his son, Jerry Fifer and special friend Shirley Smith of Lexington, S.C.; and one grandson, Kent Douglas (Cresta) Fifer, of Lexington, S.C.; and one great granddaughter, Kathrine Dale Fifer of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, William and Robert Fifer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church 105, Chapel Lane, Charles City, Iowa or Hospice of North Iowa, 1003 Gilbert Street, Charles City, Iowa.
