Dale Koehler, 89, of Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa, died Saturday, August 04, 2007, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa.

Pastor LaVonne Kaasa of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the West St. Charles Cemetery, rural Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

Dale Edward Koehler was born August 5, 1917, in Floyd County, the son of Edward and Emma (Heitz) Koehler. He graduated from the Rockford High School, and attended the University of Minnesota where he met Myra Sutherland. On November 27, 1940, they were united in marriage in Eyota, Minn.

Dale farmed in the Rockford area all of his life. He served the community in many ways including, the Rockford School Board, the Rockford Elevator Board, Omnitel Communications Board and as a Floyd County Supervisor. He was an active member of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church, rural Charles City. His interests included, wood working, farming, and his family.

Living family members include his wife, Myra of Rockford; three children, Sandra Mugridge of Emmaus, Pa., David (Natalya) Koehler of Ames, Susan (Don) Joachims of Andover, Kans.; nine grandchildren; Lyn (Donnie) Phy, Jason (Jennifer) Mugridge, Denise (Wayne) Coder, Terry (Laura) Torkildson, Kevin (Dawn) Anderson, Alex (Alona) Chernyshov, Andrew Chernyshov, Chad (Kim) Joachims, Heather (Shelby) Kaba; eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Ashlyn, Soren, Ezra, Luke, Sophia, Macy, and Brody; two sisters, Mildred Kruse of Charles City, and Arlene (George) Trettin of Rockford; one brother, Donald (Liz) Koehler of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Wilma Damgaard; and one brother, Lloyd Koehler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd St. S.E., Mason City, IA 50401 or to West St. Charles United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 167, Floyd, IA 50435.
