CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Allen Cowell, 71, a resident of 107 13th Avenue, Charles City, died Monday (May 9, 2005) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services for Allen Cowell will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor A. C. Wegner of the Faith Bible Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.

Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Allen Cowell, 71, a resident of 107 13th Avenue, Charles City, Iowa, died on Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City after a courageous battle with cancer.

Allen Clair Cowell was born February 14, 1934, at Fertile, Iowa, the son of Vern and Perrnie (Jones) Cowell. He attended school at St. Ansgar. Allen proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He married Joan Krumrey at Albert Lea, Minnesota. During his working career Allen was employed at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company for 33 years and was currently employed at Diversified Fasteners. Allen enjoyed going to auctions and collecting all types of clocks. He also looked forward to spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Joan Cowell of Charles City; four children, Cindy (Tim) Kielman of Phoenix, Az, Terri Hearn of Northwood, James Cowell of Osage, and Ramona (Doug) Bailey of Charles City; nine grandchildren, Aranda Jo Cowell who made her home for many years with her grandparents, Faith-Ann (Aaron) White, Christina Vollrath, Kenny and Sami Hearn, Jeremiah and Elizabeth Cowell and Tonya and Tara Bailey; two great grandchildren, Gage and Megan White; two brothers, Lee (Margaret) Cowell of St. Ansgar and Don (Miki) Cowell of Hawaii; and three sisters, Iva Brueswitz of St. Ansgar, Betty (Dale) Van Horn of Ft. Collins, CO and Karan (Larry) Crilly of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Toni Harris, and three brothers.
