Helen Hesley Blum was born August 4, 1901, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Cook) Hesley. She received her education from the Clear Lake Community School. Helen worked for a time in food service at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City.

On May 14, 1939, she was united in marriage to Edgar “Posy” Blum at Charles City. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Helen’s interests included fishing, cooking, canning, gardening, doing yard work and crafts and going on picnics. Her family was always very important to Helen. She looked forward to spending time with them as they included her in their various activities.

In later years Helen resided with her nephew, Lester (Sue) Hesley of Mason City and Beth Weber. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on October 5, 1985; four brothers and a sister.

Helen Blum

Mason City — Helen Blum, 104, of Mason City, formerly of Charles City, died Friday (Nov. 11, 2005) at USA Healthcare in Mason City.

Funeral services for Helen Blum will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Bill Poland of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Rockford.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m at Hauser Funeral Home on Wednesday. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service.
