Joyce A. Horn, 89, of Charles City, died Monday, February, 25, 2008, at Cedar Health in Charles City. There will be no services.

Joyce Arlene Lockhart Horn was born August 7, 1918, at Milbank, S.D., the daughter of Louis and Dorothy (Hurst) Lockhart. She graduated from the Charles City High School.

On June 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Melvin Horn. Joyce was a home maker in Charles City helping raise her two children. She later worked as a sales clerk for Van Reese Music, which later became Kaiser Music. Upon Retirement Joyce and Melvin moved to Apache Junction, Arizona.

In July of 2001, Joyce moved back to Charles City. She was a resident at Cedar Health from July 2001 until her death. Joyce was a member of the Episcopal Church in Charles City. Her interests included cooking, crocheting and watching TV.

Living family members include her two children, Richard Horn of Des Moines and Debra Horn of Mason City; three grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Olson of Rapid City, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Robert Lockhart, Kenneth Lockhart, and Gene Lockhart.
