Argyl Alvin Otto, age 86, of 507 8th Avenue, Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2008.

After cremation a graveside memorial service was held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens. Charles City. Officiating was Rev. David Werges.

Argyl was born on February 23, 1922, the only son of Nora (Tolle) and Fred Otto of Bassett, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Erion on February 14, 1946 -- they had three children. They farmed six years in Ionia, then moved out west for a better job in construction, which brought him to settle down with a construction company in Illinois for 25 years, retiring in 1986.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with family and friends. He was fortunate enough to travel the 50 states in his R.V. with his wife in retirement, seeing and meeting many relatives and friends along the way. He spent his last five years in Charles City to be close to family and friends.

Argyl is survived by his wife, Ruth; by two sons, Billy (Sharon) Otto of Hanover Park, Illinois, and Bobby (Katie) Otto of Columbia Missouri; by a daughter, Judy Jurrens of Charles City; by two sisters, Glenda Link of Charles City and Wilma (Chuck) Pennington of Las Vegas, Nevada; by 10 grandchildren; and by 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Fred Otto; by an infant sister, Ardyth Otto; and by a son-in-law, Ray (Skeet) Jurrens of Charles City.
