Phyllis Kirsch, 86, of Charles City, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

Phyllis Evelyn Draker Kirsch was born July 30, 1921, at Hills, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Dietsch) Draker. She graduated from University High School in Iowa City and Mercy Nursing School in Cedar Rapids. Phyllis served in the United States Navy during World War II at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Illinois.

On July 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Kirsch at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Robert died on January 26, 2008.

Phyllis had worked at Cedar of Lebanon Hospital in North Hollywood, Calif. and then as an office nurse at Cedar Valley Hospital. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Saint Theresa Circle. Her interests included gardening, cooking and reading. Her family was always very important to Phyllis. She enjoyed being with her husband and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include a son, Michael (Sherry) Kirsch of Charles City; three grandchildren, Mark (Michelle) Kirsch, Nicholes (Laurie) Kirsch and Cara (Tony) Heiselman; three great grandchildren, Ashley and Alexis Kirsch and Parker Heiselman; a brother, Charles J. (Betty) Draker of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Dolly Draker of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Charleen Still, Loraine O’Grady and Marilyn McDonald; and a brother, Jack Draker.
