David King, 56, of Charles City, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.David Jerome King was born July 5, 1950 at Charles City, the son of Leonard and Irma (Smith) King. He received his education at Charles City.
On July 28, 1973, he was united in marriage to Susan Roethler. They lived in Charles City all of their lives. David worked in construction and also helped his father scrap metal. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing and going on long walks with his dog “Bailey”. David enjoyed times spent with his family and friends.
Living family members include his wife, Susan King of Charles City; two sons, Shawn (Toleka) King of Charles City and Dan King of Ames; a grandson, Thomas; and a brother, Larry King of Nashua.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother; a brother, Francis King; and an infant sister, Donna Jean King.

#2:CHARLES CITY, IOWA - An unidentified Charles City police officer is on administrative leave after a fatal shooting Saturday night.
David King, 56, of Charles City, was mortally wounded during a confrontation with police at his residence. Authorities went to his home at 113 Park Ave. at about 8:30 p.m.
King was taken to Floyd County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled Sunday by the state medical examiner in Ankeny.
Floyd County Attorney Jesse Marzen said Sunday no additional information about the case would be released until the investigation is completed.
According to police, authorities responded to a 911 call about a person who was apparently suicidal at King's home. Upon arrival, a person armed with a handgun confronted an officer, and shots were fired.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Floyd County Attorney's Office and the Charles City Police Department are conducting the investigation.
The police officer will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
