Wilma Wad, 87, of Ionia, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Graveside services for Wilma Wad will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua.

Wilma Marvelyn Ransom Wad was born June 20, 1921, at Elma, the daughter of Albert and Regina (Schuld) Ransom. She graduated in 1938 from the Ionia Public Schools.

In 1939 she was united in marriage to Earl Wad at New Hampton. Wilma worked for 32 years at the United States Post Office in Ionia, retiring as Postmaster in 1981. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and traveling. Wilma’s family was always very important to her. She had a special relationship with her immediate family and sister, Ilda Zimmerman.

Living family members include a son, Jeffrey Wad of Ionia; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a sister, Kay Siglin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1962; a son, Jerry Wad; a daughter, Earla Whalen; a brother, Robert Ransom; and two sisters, Ilda Zimmerman and Pauline Evans.
