Edward Charles Wubbens was born July 6, 1926, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Mattie (White) Wubbens. He received his education from the Cedar Rapids and Center Point schools. Ed enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served his country as a Radarman during World War II.

On June 12, 1948, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie “Sully” Sullivan. In those early years they were great square dance enthusiasts. Ed was a truly a self made man. As a young apprentice he learned the electrical trade as his father had done before him.

After many years of employment with Paulsen Electric in Cedar Rapids, he purchased Bluhm Electric of Charles City in 1976. A successful and reputable contracting business was built. Hard working and respected by his peers and employees, Ed was always willing to put on the tools to help complete a job. He was a true master at his trade and very proud of Wubbens Electric Inc. which is currently being run by his youngest son, Jim. Ed tried to retire in 1990 but kept close to the business and his expertise was always appreciated.

As things slowed down for Ed he began to volunteer his trade. He was especially proud of the work he provided for the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and school, Hospice of North Iowa and the Knights of Columbus Hall. Ed enjoyed his coffee with the guys, playing cards and attending the activities of his grandchildren.

His greatest love was for the game of golf which he played and taught very well. A man of few words, but when he spoke, his dry sense of humor and wisdom was cherished by those who love him. He was an attentive and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren who always felt his love.

Living family members include his wife, Rose Marie of Charles City; three children, Terry Wubbens of Charles City, Susan (Bob) Morris, Jr. of Manchester and Jim (Sheila) Wubbens of Charles City; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Bonesteel of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
