Max Miller, 70, of Charles City, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, while surrounded by his family. He waged a 16 year battle against brain tumors with dignity, grace and unparalleled courage.

Max LeRoy Miller was born April 20, 1936, at Charles City, the son of Clifford and Gwendolyn (Behnke) Miller. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1954. During his career as a licensed plumber, Max was a member of Local 33 Plumbers and Steamfitters, retiring at Clausen Plumbing and Heating in Mason City. A long time member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, he served on numerous committees and spent a term as congregational president.

He was a member of the Elks Club. Max loved to dance, travel, play cards, and spend time outdoors. He loved spring and the beginning of new life.

Max married the love of his life Georgena Peters on June 15, 1958, at New Hampton beginning a 48 year marriage of passion, love and commitment.

He will be missed by his wife, beloved children Shawn and Dan Dana of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Stephanie and Audie Bremer of Katy, Tex. and his adored grandchildren, Atalia, Natasha and Brandon.

Max was a devoted and adoring husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind and gentle man, who by example gave his children and grandchildren a deep seeded faith, compassion for others and love of family. He provided unending inspiration, encouragement and guidance to his family and friends. He simply made it his goal in life to guide, nurture and inspire others.

Max is further survived by his sister, Barbara Miller of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to thank the kind and caring staff of North Iowa Hospice and other caregivers for their kindness and ability to enable Max to remain at home during his final months. It meant a great deal to him and his family.
