Charles Stiles, age 84, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Charles William Stiles was born October 6, 1920, at Swea City, Iowa, the son of Vaughn and Alta (Potter) Stiles. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1938.

On October 5, 1941 he was united in marriage to Helen Erickson at Charles City. Charles retired after 37 years, from the Oliver/White Farm Corporation. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Charles enjoyed woodworking and created many items for both his family and the church. Both Charles and Helen were avid Comettes softball fans, supporting the teams in various ways over the years.

Living family members include his wife, Helen, of Charles City; four children, Reverend James (Jeanette) Stiles of Mason City, Jane (Harv) Johnson of Rogers, MN, John (Roberta) Stiles of Lewiston, MN and Jean (Randy) Christensen of Mason City; 9 grandchildren, Jami (Craig) Shelbrock, Jeff (Heather) Stiles, Julie (Bill) Robbins, Joseph (Melissa) Ostermann, Brent Stiles, Troy Stiles, Melinda Stiles, Kathryn Christensen and Jenna Christensen; two great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marlys Stiles of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert, Don and Delbert Stiles.
