Bobby Carmody, 71, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa.

Bobby Marvin Carmody was born January 1, 1935, in Cerro Gordo County, the son of John and Josephine (Rogers) Carmody. He received his education from Mason City Public School. Bobby proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On July 20, 1956, he was married to Alberta Johnson in Chicago. They later divorced.

He worked for many years as a metal slitter in Chicago and then moved to Osage where he was part owner of Firestone Tire. He was a member of the Chicago Lions Club and the local V.F.W. Bobby looked forward to fishing, playing cribbage and being a pit man for stock car racing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Living family members include five children, Bob (Deb) Carmody of Britt, Kathleen (Rick) Wilkins of Charles City, Theresa (Larry) Grein of Osage, Daniel (Margaret) Carmody of Charles City and Debra (Edward) Shindelar of Little Cedar; 12 grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, Roger (Mabel) Carmody of Arkansas; and a sister, Rosella Mayo of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jeffrey Obermeier; three brothers, Buster, Bud, and Lloyd Carmody; and four sisters, Zola and Kay Mahn, Stella Buchanan and Thelma McCourt.
