Leona E. Arndt, age 94, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Leona Evelyn Roethler Arndt was born March 22, 1912, the daughter of William Thomas and Pauline (Blaska) Roethler at Chickasaw County. She attended school in Chickasaw County.

On January 8, 1930 she was united in marriage to Otto Arndt at Alta Vista. Leona retired from White Farm/ Oliver after working there for 23 years. She was a member of the Union, Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Moose Lodge. Her interests included fishing, cooking, dancing, flower gardening and spending time with her family. Leona will always be remembered as one dear sweet lady.

Living family members include two children, Sandra (Darwin) Pepper of Burlington, and Gerald (Jean) Arndt of Osage; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Yearling, and Marian Elefsrud both of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; and five sisters.
