SHEFFIELD, IOWA - Gary Lee Posekany, 59, of Sheffield, died Monday (Oct. 20, 2008) at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. R. Karl Watkins presiding. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Retz-Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Gary Lee Posekany was born on October 18, 1949, in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of Lester and Florence (Keeling) Posekany. He was baptized at Nashua United Methodist Church. He grew up in the Dike, Iowa, area and by high school had moved with his family to Sheffield.

A truck driver for many years, Gary began driving for B&E Trucking for Sheffield Brick and Tile Co. He later drove for Paul Kuhn Co., retiring three years ago after an illness.

Gary was united in marriage in May 1968 with Pamela Rae Emhoff at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They raised two boys: Greg and Jeff. Pam died in 1986.

Gary then married Linda Ramker on October 16, 1993, at their home in Sheffield, with Pastor Hollingsworth of First Baptist Church presiding.

He will be missed by his wife of 15 years, Linda; by sons, Jeff (Lori) Posekany of Omaha and Greg Posekany of Mason City; by step-children: Joy (Darin) Schrader of Hampton, Kari (Herb) Murch of Dunkerton, Mindy (Jade) Pecha of Dumont; by grandchildren: Christian, Taylor, Alyssa and Sara Posekany and Trager Pecha; by his mother, Florence, of Sheffield; by a sister, Cheryl (Jack) Eno, of Sheffield; by nieces and nephew: Kaycee, Megan and Sean Eno; and by a great-nephew, Ethan Shields.

Gary was preceded in death by his father and his first wife, Pamela.

Arrangements are by Retz-Grarup Funeral Home, 641-892-4241.
