Carrie Denise (Gruis) Meggers, 32, died following a long illness Monday, September 15, 2008, with family by her side at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 805 E. Main Ave., Rockford, Iowa, and funeral services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Patricia Shaw officiating. A service of memory will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Carrie was born on April 20, 1976, in Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa, to Dennis and Patricia (Reynolds) Gruis. She graduated from Rockford Senior High School and Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo.

Carrie and Theodore (Ted) Meggers had three children, Madison Marie (8), Jonathen Matthew (6) and Mackenzie Marcele (4).

She is survived by her children, Madison, Jonathen, and Mackenzie, in the care of their grandparents, Dan and Jan Johnson, and by her parents, Dennis (Becky) Gruis, Patricia Gruis; sisters, Laurie (Merlin) Eckerson; Dee (Travis) Schweizer; and Jenna (Tim) Sondag; aunts Sue Healey and cousins, Mike and Pat Healey, Debra (James) Loven and cousin, Jill Loven; Uncle Dan Reynolds; and cousins, Sterling and Matthew Reynolds; grandmother, Mary Lou (Art) Rethamel; niece and nephews: Kalie and Kaleb Eckerson and Taylor Schweizer.

Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Donald and Gladys Gruis, and Max Reynolds; uncles, Michael Reynolds and George Healey.
