MOTLAND, DUNTON, DAVIDSON

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Frances E. Motland, 89, of Nora Springs died Saturday (Sept. 13, 2008) at Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Edinger officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Frances was born on September 6, 1919, in Bolan, Worth county, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert and Olive (Davidson) Dunton. She attended rural school in Tenold and Grafton, Iowa, until moving to Rock Falls area in 1933. She graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1938.

Following high school she worked for Northwestern Bell until she married Truman Motland on Feb. 7, 1941.

They farmed in the Rock Falls area until moving to Nora Springs in 1946. She was employed as a postal clerk in the post office in Nora Springs from 1956 until her retirement in 1979.

Frances was active in Girl Scouts while her daughters were growing up. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and was past president of ALCW.

Frances is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Hinrichsen and her husband, Jack, Nora Springs, and Connie Pals of Warsaw, Mo.; three grandchildren, Scott Hinrichsen and his wife, Kim, Farmington, Minn., Shawn Hinrichsen and his wife, Cynthia, Olathe, Kan., and Jason Pals, and his wife, Loree, Warsaw, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Kole, Abby Hinrichsen, Emilee, Haylee and Rylee Pals; and one sister, Mary Hansen, Rock Falls, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers; son-in-law, Allen Pals, and her husband, Truman.
