NASHUA, IOWA — Alicia J. Burkle, 36, of North Liberty formerly of Nashua died Monday evening, September 1, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City of squamous cell carcinoma.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua with Pastor Thomas Hagen officiating. Cremation will follow the services at Nashua.

A second celebration service will be held at the First Methodist Church in North Liberty on Thursday, September 11, at 7 p.m. Arrangements are by Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. On-line condolences may be left for Alicia at www.hugebackfuneralhome.com.

Alicia Jody Burkle was born July 4, 1972 at Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, the youngest child of Stanley and Gloria (Prull) Burkle. She attended school in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1990. She continued her education at the University of Iowa graduating in 1995 with a degree in education.

Alicia loved teaching elementary students. She dearly loved her experiences at the Wickham Elementary School in Coralville and Weber Elementary School in Iowa City.

Alicia is survived by her parents; by her brother, Kevin and his wife Amy, of Crystal Lake, Illinois; sister, Kimbra Smyth and her husband, Kevin of Urbandale; and by her brother Todd and his wife, Patty, of Monona.
