Jeanette Louise Richardson was born May 21, 1919, in Britt, the daughter of Edward and Nancy Bertha (Fischer) Richardson. She attended Britt Junior College and then graduated with a registered nurse degree from Iowa Methodist in Des Moines in 1941. She was the head obstetrics nurse at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. It was said that she held most of the county's newborns before their mothers did.

On April 22, 1944, she was united in marriage to John Harlan Kepple at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home for a short time in Allison, and then from 1943 until 1961 in Nashua before moving to Charles City.

Jeanette enjoyed cooking and will be greatly missed for her wonderful gravy at Thanksgiving and other family events. She also canned tomatoes and peaches and made the best peach milkshakes.

She traveled almost every year to visit her sister in Montana and her other sister and daughter at Cape Cod and in Connecticut. As soon as she arrived at her daughter's she wanted to stop at the Christmas Tree Store, which was just an excuse to go to her daughter's.

She enjoyed reading murder mysteries and watching old Western television shows. She was always ready to visit with family and friends. She was an animal lover and had cats and dogs. She also excelled as a seamstress and was an avid gardener.

She was a member of both the Congregational Churches in Nashua and Charles City and was a member of the church group "Majels" in Nashua and the American Legion Auxiliary in Nashua.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann and her husband, John Schneckloth, of Charles City, Gay Kepple of Rocky Hill, Conn.; son Harlan of Charles City; grandchildren Sara (Scott) Koehler, Eden Prairie, Minn., Margo (Chris) Farnsworth, Oakham, Mass., Tyler, Lindsey and Zachary Kepple, Cottonwood, Ariz., Clay (Rachael) Schneckloth, Story City; great-granddaughter Sophie Koehler, Eden Prairie, Minn.; and her cat, Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, who died on May 21, 1993; her daughter Nancy; two sisters, Edna and husband, George Heinrich, and Dorothy and husband, Hardy, Kyhl; and her parents.
