CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Richard Lee Bierbaum, 72, of 1837 Blake Blvd. S.E., Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a short illness.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa.

Survivors include his children, John (Autumn) Bierbaum of Cedar Rapids, Greg (Sonya) Woodhouse and Susan (Steve) Halsor, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and Stacy (Ron) West of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Walter Bierbaum of Mason City; and sister, Mary Hanson of Vermillion, S.D.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

Dick was born on Nov. 6, 1935, in Rockford, to Lee and Irene Bierbaum. Dick married Joanne Woodhouse in 1968. He worked in customer service for Pennick and Ford for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. Dick was known for his great sense of humor and unlimited patience. He loved cars, driving, photography, animals, and music; especially jazz.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
