Henrietta “Etta” Lane died on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa.

Funeral services for Henrietta “Etta” Lane were held on Monday, August 4, 2008, at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, Pastor David Werges officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Henrietta Helena Rademacher was born on January 20, 1911, at Minonk, Illinois, the daughter of John and Johana (Leffers) Rademacher. She graduated from the Floyd High School.

On November 14, 1930, she married Ivan Lane at the Floyd United Methodist Church. Etta was employed at the Grocery Store and Telephone Office at Floyd from 1926 to 1930; Hart Parr from 1942-1943; Highway Cafe from 1951 to 1954; Uptown Cafe from 1958 to 1964; Point Cafe from 1964 to 1965; and 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home from 1972 to 1973. She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Relief Corps, Royal Neighbors, Central Star Club, Charter Member of the Woman of the Moose, V.F.W., Rebekah’s, State Navy Mothers Commander, Local Navy Club, Degree of Honor and Senior Citizens. Her interests included sewing, cooking, and quilting.

She is survived by her seven children: Ivadelle (Jerry) Stevenson of Charles City, Delton (Sharon) Lane of Charles City, Claire (Lucille) Lane of Charles City, Betty Rex of Marble Rock, John (Judi) Lane of Charles City, Linda (Allen) Steffler of LaGrande, Oregon, and Virginia (Ron) Kneisel of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Janet Lane; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Ivan, in 1990; by a son, Guy Lane in April of 2008; by two grandchildren, Konnie Messerlie and Jeffrey Lane; by three son-in-laws: Russel Kniesel, James Messerlie and James Rex; by two sisters, Jennie Onken and Alvina Koehler; and by four brothers: Edmund, George, William and Herman Rademacher.
