Mildred Haase, age 91, formerly of Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, July 30, 2008 at the New Hampton Center in New Hampton, Chickasaw county, Iowa

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua, with Pastor Dale Halverson officiating. Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Waverly.

Mildred Anna (Judas) Haase was born Jan. 14, 1917, the daughter of Edwin C. and Marie (Huneck) Judas in Waverly.

She was baptized on June 22, 1918 and confirmed on April 13, 1930 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly. On September 22, 1937 she was united in marriage to Earl W. Haase in Minnesota. Mildred and Earl spent their working years in Charles City. Millie worked as a cleaning lady in Charles City and loved to camp and fish. After Earl’s death in 1983, she moved to Frederika Senior Housing, then to an assisted living apartment in Nashua, and at the time of her death she was a resident of New Hampton Care Center.

Mildred is survived by her two children, Dean W. Haase and his wife, Gay of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Mary Lou (Schmidt) Benson and her husband, Tom of Tripoli, Iowa; byb four grandchildren: Eugene (Sally) Haase of Tampa, Fla., Todd (DeAnn) Schmidt of Kelley, Kurt (Glenda) Schmidt of Ionia and Stacy (Dan) Nuss of Sumner; by 8 step-grandchildren, by 11 great-grandchildren, by 23 step-great-grandchildren; and by a sister-in-law, Helen Judas of Decorah.

Preceding Millie in death were her husband, Earl; her parents; herstepmother, Alma (Giesler) Judas; three brothers, Loren and his wife, Hila; Raymond and Eugene Judas; and a son-in-law, Dick Schmidt.
