Nancy Marriah Eggers as the third child of Joseph T. & Mahala Eggers.

She was born April 26, 1843 in Putnam county, Indiana. She lived the first thirty-five years of her life in Putnam county, Indiana. At the age of twenty she was married to Charles W. Morris and for the next ten years resided near Carpenterville.

Two girls were born into the home and with their aged father remain to mourn their loved one. They are Mary F. Smith and Mahala D. McAdam. Mrs. Homer Treloar was a daughter by adoption and received the love and care of a daughter from the loved one who delighted in kind deeds and the four children of Mrs. Treloar are cherished in the home exceedingly.

In 1873 Mr. and Mrs. Morris and their children came to Iowa and settled three miles north of Nora Springs which place they left for a home in town in 1886, and having built their present home in 1894 have been more or less continous residents of this community for fifty-one years.
About 28 years ago Mrs. Morris suffered an illness which she never over came and from that time has been a patient sufferer.

Many doctors thought that she would not live long at that far off time and yet she passed her 81st milestone, and her 61st of married life passing to her reward on Sat. afternoon, Sept. 20, 1924.

She was unique in the patient and gentle manner of her life and those who knew best will have the tender memories of her loving devotion.
Mrs. Morris was a member of the Veterans Aid and a Charter member of the Neighborhood Club.

When a young woman she became a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was a faithful adherent to this branch of the church all her life.

Many will miss her for her kind and uncomplaining character endeared her to a host of friends. One brother, Mr. George Dallas Eggers of Roachdale, Indiana is all that is left of her own family. Owing to sickness he was unable to be present.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon, September 22, at two o'clock and interment was made in Park Cemetery.
