Raymond Kloster June 17, 1922 to Nov. 26. 1995

Raymond F. Kloster, 73, of 405 Fifth Ave., Charles City, died Sunday, Nov. 26. 1995, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City following a lengthy illness.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, Msgr. Stanley J Hayek, pastor, will celebrate the mass.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 pm at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home in Charles City, where the rosary will be recited at 3 pm and there will be a Scriptural Wake Service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.

Raymond Francis Kloster was born June 17, 1922, in rural New Hampton the son of Frank and Margaret (Schwickerath) Kloster. He attended country school until the death of his father required Raymond to help run the farm, On July 6, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, New Hampton; he was united in marriage to Bernice Rose Mary Franzen. The couple made their home in New Hampton from 1949 until 1958. They then moved to Charles City.

Mr. Kloster worked for nearly eight years on the Joe Ehling farm outside of New Hampton. On Feb 24, 1948, he began a long career with the former Oliver/White farm Tractor in Charles City. He worked in the foundry of the plant as well as on the assembly line. It was a position he held for over 35 years, retiring on Aug. 1, 1982.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the UAW Local 1315. He spent much of his spare time remolding the family home on Fifth Avenue. Because he was so “handy”, he was often sought out by friends and neighbors to help with projects in their yards and homes. He was especially particular when it came to his car, as he always kept his car very clean.

Living family members include his wife, Bernice of Charles City; 10 children, Pasty Hoffman and husband Charles of Charles City, James Kloster and wife Nicoletta of New Hampton, Robert Kloster and special friend Neta Rae White of Charles City, Mary Jane Justus and husband Wesley of Postville, Judy Kloster of Fond du Lac, Wis., Clare Grober and husband Leon of Alta Vista, Gary Kloster and wife Rae Sue of Charles City, Debra Mettner and husband Jim of New Hampton, Madonna Kloster of Charles City, and Michael Kloster, and Tanner Mettner; one great granddaughter, Kathy Monson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Janet Marie Kloster and an infant child and two grandchildren, Amanda and Shad Kloster.
