CHARLES CITY, IOWA – Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran church Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. C. W. Schroeder, 76, who died at her farm home in Riverton township where she had lived for the last 47 years; Mrs. Schroeder’s death was on her 54th wedding anniversary, as she was married to C. William Schroeder on March 8, 1893; the service at the church will be preceded by a prayer service at the late rural home at 1:15 p.m. with Rev. Walter M. Fritschel, pastor of the church, officiating and interment will be in Riverside cemetery; she had been ill for two weeks.

Sekadena Borchers, daughter of Claus and Elizabeth Borchers, was born August 4, 1870, in Germany, coming to the United States at age 17, on March 29, 1888.

On March 8, 1893 she was married to C. William Schroeder, and they settled on a farm in Pleasant Grove township where they lived for seven years, when they moved to the farm in Riverton township where Mrs. Schroeder died and where she had lived for 47 years.

She is survived by four daughters and one son; Mrs. Louis Bahlman, Mrs. Carl Beekman and Mrs. William Ebding, all of this vicinity, and Mrs. William Bierschenk, Nashua, and Claus at home; also two brothers, Dick Borchers, Princeton, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Strenge, Stanchfield, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death on October 5, 1940; also one brother, Ed Borchers; two grandsons and one great grandson.

The body was to be taken from Grossmann’s in Charles City, to the late home in the country late Monday afternoon.
