STOECKER, KENZLER, ALMA, MEGGITT

Funeral services will be at the Hauser Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Henry J. Stoecker, 75, long time resident of this community, who died in Chicago, Ill., Friday.

Burial in Riverside cemetery; had been in failing health about two years; on August 29, 1946, he submitted to a major operation from which he never fully recovered; was a resident of this community 44 years before going to Chicago, where he had lived for the past 20 years; son of John Adam and Barbara Elizabeth Stoecker, born in Finley Park, Ill., Jan. 11, 1872; came to Iowa just west of Charles City, now part of the Sherman Nursery holdings; on Oct. 10, 1894, married Helen Kenzler; to this union three children were born; they are, Mrs. G. A. Alma, Chicago, with whom he made his home; Carl H., Charles City, and Edward R., Rockford, Ia., wife preceded him in death in March, 1900; also leaves brother, L. G. Stoecker of Palatka, Fla., two sisters, Mrs. A. M. Meggitt of Cedar Falls, and Emma Stoecker of this city, and five grandchildren; was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, the Odd Fellows lodge and the Order of the Macabees; body was to arrive here Monday, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Alma, and son Edward, Chicago.
