Bert Bowers lost hand 1908

Bert Bowers, who was out hunting rabbits near Charles City with two companions, lost a hand through a careless trick. One of them caught a rabbit in his hands, and the other fellow shot it in the air and the third fellow shot at it. The charge went into Bower’s hand, almost blowing at away. The hand had to be amputated at the wrist.
