Elgin 10 cent token found

My husband was metal detecting in Harpers Ferry, Iowa and found a C. S. Holstenson General Merchandise, Elgin,Iowa 10 cent in trade token.

Can anyone tell us who C.S. Holstenson is and when he had his store? What the tokens were used for and if anyone remembers using them?
