Need help identifying uniform

I have a hand tinted tintype of two men in uniform. One of them is either my g-grandfather Henry W. Wellman or his father Lorenzo D. Wellman. Lorenzo D. Wellman served with Co. B 4th Iowa Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War. Henry W. Wellman may have served with the Co. F, 4th Reg. Iowa National Guard Unit that was organized in Fayette County in May 1878. Does anyone know what the uniform for either of these groups looked like?
