Query first posted on IA Orphan Treasures board, Feb. 2003:

I'm searching for the Journals kept by Daniel Davis during the years 1849 through about 1851. He was a resident of Fayette Co., IA for many years, although born in Vermont, and the journal was begun in Boston, MA while he was awaiting passage around Cape Horn to California during the Gold Rush.
