I am afraid you will have to be more specific as to who, where and when your George Robinson was. If he was the G.W. Robinson that settled in Page County Iowa, then people will not find your query. Furthermore, if he was born in 1830 as you say, he may not have lived with parents in 1850, the first census that points directly to parentage.

A useful principle of family history research I think is to start from the recent past and work backwords. SO where did George die?

Another principle is to find, evaluate and use all possible sources. What this means is that your best sources may not be online but be in books and county records or even newspapers. For Iowa at least most of the valuable stuff has been filmed.
