1856 Iowa State Census has a Joseph Gibbon, age 23 from England living in Illyria Township in Fayette County. Census indicates that they have lived in Iowa for 6 years.

Gibbon, Judith, 53
Joseph, 23
Sarah, 20,
Hope, 18
Hannah, 16

All born England

On the 1854 census there was a Joseph Gibbon, no age given, 1 male, 4 females, so it looks like the same household, then the location was Clermont

Clermont township is in the NE corner of Fayette County. Illyria township is on the east edge of Fayette County, and contains the town of Wadena in its southern part.

1850 census has William Gibbin,45, farmer b. England, as head of the above household.

In Iowa, land records are kept in the County Recorder's office. Fayette County Seat is in West Union.
