John W. Phelps family

The 1870 census shows J. W. Phelps and family living in Eden Township, Fayette County. My great grandfather, Fred Phelps, was not quite a year old. Some on-line sources list Fred's place of birth as Fairfield County. Since there is no such county in Iowa, I suspect they meant Fairfield Township, which is in Fayette County. If anyone has any information regarding this family, which included John W. Phelps, his wife Sarah (Smith), son Fred and 6 daughters, I would like to hear from you. There was supposed to be another son, Frank, who was born in 1864 and died in 1865. They may have moved into the county as early as 1860, but had moved on to Kansas by 1880.
