Obituary------Harold D. Hoth

Harold D. Hoth, the son of Albert W. and Ethel Meikle Hoth, was born at Sumner, Iowa on October 9th, 1913 and departed this life at Oelwein, Iowa on November 12, 1937, aged 24 years, 1 month and 3 days
.
In 1922 he came with his family to Oelwein. Here on May 12th 1923 when he was a lad under ten years of age, he was bereft of his mother. He attended the public schools, going through the 11 th grade. Then feeling the challenge of work, he left school to find employment. For a number of years he worked at the shops and in the past year or so, was employed by the Young Coal Co., in the ice business.

On November 27th, 1932 he was united in marriage to Miss Leona Scheckel at Galena, Illinois.To this union two children were born, one of whom, Shirley Ann, died in infancy.
Harold is survived by his father, Albert W. Hoth, by three sisters, Mrs. Louise Jacoby, Ethel and Leota Hoth all of Oelwein; by two brothers, William of Oelwein, and Donald of Hazelton, and by one daughter, Barbara Jean. He is also survived by a grandfather, Mr. W, C. Meikle and by eight nieces and one nephew.
Harold had many commendable qualities. He was of a generous disposition. He was keenly interested in doing things about the home, as is evidenced by his recent labors of love in painting and decorating his father's house. He was full of life and rejoiced to see others enjoy themselves.

Funeral services were held from the Grace Methodist Espiscpal Church at 2 :00 p.m. November 14th, the Rev. F.C. Witzigman officiating. Mrs. William Morris and Mrs. John Eikenberry sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Sometime We'll Understand"-------Miss Evelyn Eck acted as organist. Interment was made in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.
