Hazleton--Funeral services for Glaydys Arlene Bigelow, formerly of Hazleton, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the Rev. Paul L. Wigtil officiating. Burial will be in Hazleton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Widnesday (today) and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bigelow, 87, died Monday afternoon, Aug 9, 1999, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 13, 1912, at Clutier, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Nessler) Arp. She moved with her family to Maynard in 1921 and attended Maynard public school. On Nov. 26, 1930, she married Clyde Bigelow at West Union. She was a Hazleton resident from 1933 until moving to the Good Samaritan Home in West Union nine years ago.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances May Kustic of Bishop, Calif., Donna Lee (Lawrence) Ishman of Elgin, and Betty Lou Fisher of Hot Springs, Ark.; one son, Earl Duane (Janey) Bigelow of Chino, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Berneice Lehniger of Hazleton, Evelyn Quinn of Oelwein, and Betty Jean Christensen of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde on March 1 1983; two sisters, Dora and Katrina Arp, along with two other sisters, Helen Vargason and Bessie Steffen; four brothers, Fred, Bill, Eddie and Harry Arp; and two sons-in-law, James A Fisher and Mark Kustic.
