Sudden Death at Auburn,
West Union Arqo:—Last Saturday Dan Mays, of Auburn, worked in the field all day husking corn. He came in and ate his supper, took off his shoes and started for the bedroom. Crossing the threshold of the room he threw up his hands and toppled over, dead. When the affrighted members of his household reached him life was already extinct. Funeral services were held in the village on Monday. Deceased was born in May, 1848. A wife four sons and three daughters survive him. Mr. Mays had been a resident of Auburn for four years and was a good citizen.Transcriber’s Note: There is a Daniel Mays buried in Auburn Township in Oak Ridge Cemetery who died Dec. 1, 1900; however they show he was born November, 1832.
