Phineas F. Sturgis, one of the pioneers of Fayette county, and for more than a quarter century one of its most active and influential republicans, died at his home in West Union last Monday, aged over 80 years.

—P. F. Sturgis, who died on the 9th inst., came to West Union in 1851, when that town had a population of only 75.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the West Union Cemetery and was born in December, 1830.
