Fatal Accident at Oelwein
Record:—Wm, Wilson, a brakeman running on the Des Moines division of the Great Western, was run over by a switch engine and instantly killed in the yards of the company Tuesday morning at about 11 o’clock.
The accident occurred a short way above the subway on West Charles street. Wilson was on his way to the northern part of the yard where his caboose was stationed, his intention being to get some rest,
The switch engine came along, backing up, and Wilson sought to ride to his caboose. He attempted to step on the running board, missed his footing, and was ground beneath the wheels, his body being cut in two.
