News of the death of Mrs. C. H. Talmadge of West Union did not reach us until after last week's issue was print¬d. This event occurred early Friday morning, the 8th, and was the result of pneumonia. Mrs. T. was the daughter of a Baptist clergyman and was born in Providence, R. I . in 1843. In 1861 she married Mr. Talmadge at Osage, and settled in West Union. In that community, writes a biographer in the Argo,
—“was spent two-thirds of her entire life, more than thirty-seven years— years of noble impulses, kindly deeds, lofty purposes in all that is characteristic of the best and noblest in American womanhood and motherhood. All those associated with her in the active life of the past, knew her true worth and the impress of her character on this community. Her influence was over for the good of society and the uplifting of humanity. In her home life she was a queen among queens, and there more than anywhere else will she be the most missed.”
Such a memory is a blessed one, and Bro. Talmadge may feel assured he has the sympathy of every friend he possesses among the old-time editors, and later ones, too, of the entire state.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Lucy who is buried in West Union Cemetery. She was born September 6, 1843 and died January 8, 1904.
