HILLARY LAWRENCE GORDON

Rites Held For Former Resident

Hillary Lawrence Gordon, 67, of 1131 Oak Park Ave., Des Moines died early Saturday, June 24, at Veterans Hospital of complications after surgery. He had been ill for about seven months.

Mr. Gordon was born at Postville, the youngest son of James and Susan Gordon. During World War I, he was a member of the United States Navy.

In 1923 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Wagner who taught school in Elgin and Clermont. To this union, one daughter was born, Jean, Mrs. Roy Mann.

The Gordons lived in Clermont and Oelwein, moving to Des Moines about 25 years ago, where Mr. Gordon was an employee of the Rock Island Motor Freight Company. He retired in 1958. He was a member of the Highland Park American Legion Post.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle; a daughter, Mrs. Roy Mann of Des Moines; a brother, Dr. Leo F. Gordon of Memphis, Tennessee; and five grandchildren.

Services were Monday morning, June 26, in All Saints Catholic Church, Des Moines.
