--The suicide of A. D. Kinney, the Elgin blacksmith, briefly reported last week, was evidently the effect of melancholy following a fit of sickness. He was aged 62 years, and had said that if anything ever happened to him so that he could not work he would end his life by his own hand. He did not consider the feelings or fate of a wife, two daughters and six sons; but only thought of his own temporary burden. Alas for human selfishness.

Transcriber’s Note: The earlier report was A. D. McKinney. Find-a-Grave shows an Andrew D. Kinney buried in Elgin City Cemetery. He was born in 1843 and died September 21, 1905.
