Alfered Miller was born in Cambria, Co . Pa., forty six years ago, and died at Seymour, Mo., April 22, 1901.
In 1870 he with his folks moved to Howard county, Io., and settled in Paris township where he has since resided most of the time.
About four months ago he went to Enid, Oklahoma, hoping that the mild and dry climate of that region might relieve him of pulmonary difficulty by which he was afflicted.
Not being able to get the relief desired his brother Frank was called to his bedside and kindly administered to his comfort till the end came.
The great influx of immigration and the lack of medical facilites{sic} in that new country were not conducive to his recovery and so it was decided to return home. On the 21st they started on their return but the next day just as the train entered Missouri and while on the train the weary body was relieved of its suffering and the spirit took its flight to the realms beyond.
The body was taken to an undertaker and embalmed and was then brought on to West Union for interment.
He was an industrious and highly respected citizen. We believe he was never married.
