A Mass of Celebration Burial for Ralph B. Moellers, age 85, of West Union, Iowa was celebrated Tuesday September 4, 2012 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union. Interment was held at Mount Calvary Cemetery, rural West Union. Ralph passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at his home.

Ralph Bernard Moellers was born January 6, 1927 on the family farm near Ossian, Winneshiek County, Iowa to John and Helen (Doerr) Moellers. He served his country from April 1945 until November 1946 during World War II. On August 16, 1950, Ralph was united in marriage with Theresa Bohr at St. Francis DeSales Church in Ossian, Iowa. They were the parents of twelve children. Ralph and Theresa farmed in the West Union area for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union where he had served as a trustee. He was a 4th Degree Knight as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ralph was active in the West Union community, serving on the West Union Co-op Board and the Northeast Iowa Farm Bureau Business Association Board. He also served on the Extension Council and was a 4-H leader in Dover Township. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and feeding hummingbirds.

Ralph Bernard Moellers is survived by his wife Theresa of West Union; 12 children, Yvonne (Willie) Kerr of Clermont, Iowa, Debra (Clyde) Franzen of Ossian, Zandra (Reuben) Hageman of Calmar, Iowa, Norine (Cliff) Hemesath of Ossian, Jeff (Anna Marie) Moellers of Arlington, Iowa, Kevin (Stacy) Moellers of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, Alisa (David) Grande of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Karen (Dale) Huber of Fort Atkinson, Steven (Kay) Moellers of North Liberty, Iowa, Jason (Lori) Moellers of West Union, Tracy (Steve) Zobel of Traer, Iowa, and Holly (Paul) Skopec of West Okoboji, Iowa; 41 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; two brothers Arthur (Millie) Moellers, and Reginald (Nell) Moellers, and a sister Helen Franzen.

Preceding Ralph in death were his parents; two brothers John Moellers and Clair Moellers; and two sisters Edna Bengfort and Wilma Moellers (in infancy).
